AE Low-Rise Denim Tomgirl Short

Love the great quality. Still wearing a pair from 5 years ago

Where to begin? First, these are shorter than I was expecting (which is a good thing). I was afraid they might look like grandma shorts on me. Also, the rise (on me) is HIGHER than expected which, is also a GOOD thing. These say low-rise, however these fit on me just a smidge lower than the high-rise, right on my belly button. Note: I have a long torso, despite being 5ft tall. I weigh 135-140.My waist is a solid 29.5 inches and my hips are dead on 42.5 inches. Per the size chart, size 8 is 29 waist and 39 hip. Mind you, these are supposed to be a relaxed fit however these fit my hips like regular shorts across my hips with a little more room in the leg. These basically fit me like mom shorts with the exception the rise is slightly lower and then coverage is better.The problem I tend to have is if short-shorts don’t cut underneath at the back of the leg or should I say “cup my butt” then when I bend over slightly stiffer fabrics tend to just stay straight in place and stick out, exposing the bottom half of my rear. These are EXCELLENT length for me because they are long enough to cover my backside but still short enough to look flattering. Matter of fact these are so flattering I bought my first pair in bright white and just came back to purchase 4 more! (same stlye; medium destroy& light super bleach) & in 2 other styles camo (with drawstring 1335-7133)& light wash 1335-7171(thinking of buying a second pair in bright white so that I have a back up in case these get a stain. The white are NOT see through. They are a durable fabric and great quality as expected from AE. Because these don’t have a lick of stretch so I caution you when sizing down because this may help give a more fitted hip but may end up being too snug in the waistband, depending on your own body type. This shorts are perfect fit. Relaxed fit but very comfortable and cute on. Perfect for me a 53 year old who still loves to wear shorts, but does not like the short shorts. :) #AEReviewSweepsEntry

This is made of nice thick jean material. As described, there is no stretch. Also thanks to reviewers that mentions this. Normally, I wear AE jeans size 2 and on shorts I sized up 4. I ordered my size 4 and it fits with no wiggle room. It sits on my mid hip as well. Undies don't show. What is not mentioned on description is that this is distress. I am not much into distress but I will keep and hope the distress part won't go big specially since one is on the top of the front pocket. I really like it except for the distress part.

i havent had this issue in any of my other american eagle shorts but with these i had the dreaded gap on the small of my back when the waist of shorts are too big compared to the butt. i wouldnt even say that i have a large butt or a small waist. yes i could just wear a belt but this just wasnt an issue i ever thought american eagle would give me.

Not quite what I was looking for. It was a strange fit for me.

I found these shorts to slightly flare out at the bottom. Also, the front looked kind of bulky on me. For reference, I'm 5'7, long torso, pear-shaped body, with a 28" waist and 37" hips. I got a size 6, and it felt true to size...the style just didn't seem to compliment my figure. I got this in white, and the material was nice and durable. Also, the length was great - I like shorts that aren't too short and the length was excellent. Just wish the fit was more flattering on me. #AEReviewSweepsEntry
