I love that this pair of shorts are not too low. They hit at mid hip. I did size down to a 4. Just the right amount of distressing.

Okay! So, these must be for shapely girls. They slim my waist and accent my butt and fit well.. I love them! They actually make my waist look smaller. I’m 5’5 and 180. Now, you use that however you can :-)

I love the length & distressing of these skater shorts, but they are in no way “low-rise”. I am 5’9 & they are at least 2 inches if not more above my belly button. Compared to my other shorts & jeans that are mid-rise, these are more high-waisted than anything. #AEReviewSweepsEntry

I bought these in my normal size of 8 & happy I did. I know other reviewers talk about sizing down for a snugger fit but I have other jeans for a snug fit and LOVE the loose fit and low waist on these!! I gave 4 stars because I wish the denim fabric was softer & more pliable but perhaps that was in the description and may happen over time. Would recommend in your regular size if you want them baggy and a looser low waist fit

I like them in general, I like the baggy fit, I just wish it wasn’t that 80’s stone washed look. They look more like a guys jean wash. Otherwise great.

These shorts are awesome, but they run BIG. I’m usually a size 6 in AE, but I always size up in denim shorts because I’m in my 40s and don’t wear tight shorts anymore. So I ordered an 8. They wouldn’t even stay above my hips. I returned the 8s and reordered a 6, which were still too big! So I returned the 6s and got a 4. The 4s fit just the way I like them! A little loose and baggy and the length is perfect!

I have a love/hate relationship with shorts, especially since I have bigger thighs. I hate the chafing I get when I wear shorter shorts, but it’s too hot in the summer to wear pants! So, for this summer, I’m determined to find the perfect shorts for me! I don’t want them to ride up and I want them to be cute. These are the first shorts I’ve bought this year and I’m not sold. In AE I can wear 12/14 in the NEXT level stretch, but I usually size up to 16 for non-stretch jeans. This year I’ve gained a little weight so for these I went up to a 18 and they’re too big. But the reason I took a star off was because the material. I’m not a big fan of how thin it feels. The shorts are cute and I will be wearing them, but not my favorite ones ever.

I totally love the fit of low rise shorts and was very happy to find them on-sale, I bought 3 pairs. I normally read reviews before a purchase but did not feel the need, as I have bought several before. I am a straight AE 6, so I ordered my size. Huge mistake. Like other reviewers said it is in no way low rise and the fit is awkward, not flattering whatsoever and they were so huge on me, you can't see a curve. I felt deceived because I bought 3 different pairs and none fit below my belly button. I do love the lightness of the denim, as they will be worn in the summer. I hope I can have them exchanged for size 4s. AE was always my go to for denim shorts and I have several pairs. They need to do better.

These are a great quality pair of shorts. The material is comfortable, the fit is great through the legs and backside but you should not expect a low rise. I have a long torso that always affects how my pants fit and the waist of these shorts still sits well above my belly button lol. 5' 7", 135-140lbs, bought a size 4.

I ordered a 6, but should have gotten size 4. Love the distress look .

The models for the shorts posed in a way where you cannot see how the shorts sit in actuality. The shorts are supposed to be low rise… but are definitely not that. I am generally a size 4 in American eagle jeans and short but these I would have to size down to a 2 maybe even a zero. I have a slimmer waist with a big butt and these shorts are not flattering in any way. I can see what was supposed to be achieved by these shorts but it’s just an overall miss. Definitely taking these back for something else.

Bought these shorts in both colors and loved the look and color of them but had to return both because of the fit. They are not low rise at all.

These are NOT low rise. They button about an inch above my belly button. Runs big too....

Disappointed!!! These are extreme hi rise shorts. I ordered them specifically because they were advertised as low rise. The description needs to be rewritten. I will have to return.

Shorts are not a low rise. Bases on the reviews, I ordered 1 size down. Waist was to small and legs are way to big. I returned the shorts.

I loved the look but these are way too big. I tried on a 000 and the waist was huge. There is no trying to size down for me… it’s really upsetting when you change the waist size all the time. The waist should be true to size and the rest of the fit is loose or fitted or whatever style. I’m 4’10” 95lbs, and since I can’t size down from a 000 it just eliminates options for me. #AEReviewSweepsEntry

I’ve had the true low rise jeans of the 90s and I’m really getting sick of jeans being advertised as low rise and then receiving them in the mail only to realize they are another ugly unflattering version of a mom jean. These jeans aren't even close to being low rise. I have longer American Eagle ripped denim tomboy shorts that I love from before the awful mom jeans trend so could you please bring that true low rise cut back and stop calling something low rise that is clearly not? They also run super large!
