I recommend sizing up a size, I am usually a size 9 at American eagle and for this boot I went for a size 10 instead for the foot part of the boot. Boot fit perfect around my calves.
If you specifically need black boots for work or style reasons, these boots are not black. They are very dark brown in colour. Just an FYI.

this boot was way too right around the calf. i had to return it. i even tried sizing up and it was still too tight.
