Exactly what I was looking for, but like the previous reviews, sizing is off. I wear a 44 and the 44 sags off of me. I will get another pair but will get a 42. I did think these shorts were more chino/khaki than athleisure wear but is a step up from gym shorts you can also wear outside of the gym

Runs VERY large. I’m a 32. Saw the review and ordered a 31. Wished I’d ordered a 30! If not for that I’d give 5 stars. What AE gets right is pockets! Freakin love AEs pockets. Functional pockets that can fit (and secure) an iPhone. Praise Jesus! (Need more colors too. The blue is not navy. It’s very grey. Wish it came in burnt almond or olive/green like the 7”s do)

Sizing seems WAYYY off to me. I typically purchase a size 40" waist even though I wear 38" because I have larger than average legs. I have 4-5 pairs of AE khaki/black/grey shorts in the flex material and thought these would be a good option for gymwear from time to time. These are HUGE. I had to double check to make sure they were in fact a 40. I easily have 2-3" of room in the waist compared to maybe 1" on my other shorts. I also got the 9" inseam because I am 6'5" and they're maybe 2" above my knee. Length was great, waist fit was not.
To double down, I typically remove the tags when trying them on and unbeknownst to me, AE has revised their return policy to include that tags must be attached. So now I am stuck with $50 worth of shorts I can't wear. Guess i'll try my luck selling them.

Terrible design

Bring back the Flex shorts from last year. These are terrible. Stop with the stupid zippers and flaps on the back pockets. I've worn AE shorts and jeans for years. please stop changing a proven design !
