Aerie Gauzy Cover Up Shirt

So- overall this shirt is incredibly comfortable. It is very soft, I love the bagginess of it and will make a wonderful cover up for beach days or worn just as itself in the hot Florida summers. My biggest gripe about this shirt- after washing it the first time before wearing it the edges frayed more (not a big deal) but the threads got all over the rest of my laundry. Secondly, I went to visit my parents and their dogs tore tiny holes in the shirt from their nails, and I got caught on some Velcro creating more holes as well. Because of the delicateness I rated it 3 stars. I feel like it is TTS for a baggy shirt, but I am apprehensive to purchase another color in fear that it will just get destroyed in my lifestyle, just not sure it is worth the price.

This is my first long sleeve swim coverup, and I do like it: I like the color (a pale lavender) and the flowy/oversized fit of it all... Just beware when washing it. Even on delicate and cold water, it sheds like crazy in the washer because the most of the hems are left "raw", by design. (If I'd known, probably would've saved my money: it left little threads on ALL the rest of the load!) Oh well, it's mine now.

I am normally an XS-S in AE/Aerie tops, but this shirt is huge! It runs longer than the matching shorts and looks extremely baggy. The sleeves fit fine, but the body is too wide for my liking. If you're on the short and petite side, I would size down, as I think an XXS would be the perfect oversized fit- just waiting for it to be restocked :( #AEReviewSweepsEntry

I wanted to love this shirt, so many things were great about it! It was lightweight and a comfortable fabric. However, the reason this didn’t work out for me was how long it was in the front. I usually love tunic length clothes but this one was just an inch or two too long to the point where the shirt just looked sloppy. The sizing of the shirt otherwise was perfect, so it was a bummer that I decided to return it.

This cover up is very large. I’m a size 18 and the Large is huge on me. I got the cream color and it reminds me of the gown they give me when I get my mammogram. It’s comfortable, but also shapeless. I got it on sale and I’ll keep it for lounging, it will make a nice nightgown. I recommend sizing down at least 2 sizes. #AEReviewSweepsEntry

I'm a big shirt small pants type of gal, and I thought this would be a great addition to my closet. The top is nice fitting, and a great top to throw on, but it's not worth the $50 tag. The raw hem and material unravels quickly, and laundering it takes a lot of care to avoid the material from pulling. Cute, but probably better options elsewhere for the price.

I was going for an oversized look but the product runs larger than expected. I am typically a large and ordered a medium, in reality I would consider a small at this point. The color in photos is also slightly misleading, it is a bit more neon/coral in person.

I looked at this top several times and read all reviews prior to purchasing online. I don’t think I would have paid $49 if I saw it in-person first. It’s more of a $30-40 top, in my opinion. I ordered the white and green and washed both separately on delicate and hung dry. The white top feels more substantial than the green but it did come with a small black stain near the collar. Both came out of the wash frayed but the green was so bad that it all got tangled and took me over half an hour to trim the crazy knotted seams. While I do love the frayed edges, it was more work than it should have been at this price point. Hoping they last but not optimistic that they will. Would probably have returned if I hadn’t already washed them.

This shirt is wicked cute and comfy but I wish that AE would offer a longer option for us tall gals. This barely covers my butt and I think it would've been a lot cuter if it was a few inches longer in the back!

For the price, this is not great quality. If you get it on sale, go for it. But, if not I would pass because it also looks way more distressed in person and the fabric feels somewhat cheap.

Saw this and was stoked as its fairly identical to a free people top im obsessed with but 1/4 the price. It arrived…it would be perfect if not for how high the collar sits on the neck. Too formal for me. Will be returning. Also im a true Medium and its large. Ordered the small but could fit xs.

I got the Quartz Pink colour, which is very pretty and I love. I typically wear a L or XL. Idk why I thought a L would be sizing down. It is so long. Like bizarrely long in the front? Too long to knot properly. I think it will be good as a light and breezy cover up in the summer, but I envisioned wearing it with light wash denim in the spring but it is soooooooooo long lol. I love the fabric. Very soft and gauzy and breezy. Don't love that it doesn't have a collar, but I didn't pay well enough attention to that. I will likely keep it. It is nice quality.

I wanted to love this top but unfortunately it was HUGE. I’m 5’2” and ordered an xxs. I know it is an oversized look but it reached the backs of my knees! Also the quality wasn’t as good as expected. There were some stitching imperfections that left lots of strings around buttons and hems.

I was really in love with this product when it came. It was oversized but that’s how the product seemed to be marketed. My biggest issue with it was the quality. There were loose strings everywhere, and worst of all, I wore it ONCE and it immediately got sun bleached in multiple spots. Very upsetting for basically a big shirt at that cost.

I loved this top so much last year (2022) that I bought a few more of these new ones (2023). The new material is much thinner/lighter, the texture doesn't hold as well (sometimes going nearly flat), and it doesn't wash as well (I have to trim away strands of material every time). Would love to see the old version come back – I probably won't buy any more until the quality improves.

I loved the look of it and bought multiple colors. When the arrived they smelt so bad of chemical. I washed them according to the tag and when I took them out they were destroyed. The fringe was all through my washer and the shirts had actually ripped in spots. It was horrible.

I LOVED this cover up when I originally tried it on. It smelled horrible so I washed it immediately on a gentle cold cycle and took it out to hang dry it, it ended up becoming so stringy like it was just shedding all around the edges. I do not recommend especially for this price.

Cute, but I washed this once and loose threads were ALL over the entire load of laundry.

For me, the quality doesn’t match the price. Feels thin and flimsy. It’s definitely oversized, to the point that I wasn’t fond of the style. But the oatmeal color was really pretty. I just didn’t think it did me any favors.

Comfy and very oversized. Mine arrived with lots of strings/frays unfortunately.

For reference I wear a size 18/20. I tried on the large in person at the store (even though I’m usually a XXL, just to give you an idea of how oversized this comes) and it fit but I wanted a really oversized look, so I got the XL. It’s lightweight and cool, perfect for days you want some sun coverage but want to stay breezy and cool. My complaints come in after I washed it for the first time. First off it shrunk a TON. Like it fits probably like the large did now. If I had known I would have done the XXL just to account for the shrink. Also there were strings tangled all over it that I spent a good 15 mins cutting off. I hope it holds up. I would have expected far better quality for the price. If I had known I would have probably tried to find a cheaper dupe at target/old navy/Amazon.

I was waiting and waiting to purchase this as for what it is it’s quite pricy. I got it in and I love the fit! It’s so nice and light, perfect for the cottage or the pool. However, this came in with the most terrible pungent chemical stench… I got two and the both smelled like that. It honestly gave me an instant headache… there were also a few spots in the shirt which were ‘worn’ for lack of a better term and close to turning into a hole. Happy with the look and fit, unhappy with the quality and smell, especially for $60.

My daughter purchased one in Spring or very early summer then they went out of stock. I loved hers so much I wanted one so I kept an eye out to see if they would come back in stock. And they did! So I ordered the green and the white one. This new stock of shirts are nothing like what my daughter received. These I received are a ragged mess. Tons of strands inches long hanging from the seams. I don't think the seam will hold up eventually. I actually thought about resewing all the seams but at this price, that would be silly. I'm returning both and am very disappointed.

2 stars for the fabric, which is light and yet substantial, perfect for layering on a beach day. Unfortunately the item is extremely unflattering. I'm typically between a small and medium, ordered both and returned both. #AEReviewSweepsEntry

I opened the package the item was used, stained and full of perfume... clearly worn but the tags still on. Where is the quality control Aerie!? Still LOVE it but now it's not available.

I loved the way this top looked on everyone that posted the item on social media. The top was great the first time I wore it (a little oversized, could have sized down). However after the first wash the ENTIRE hem of the shirt unraveled and I literally had to cut the strings off all over the shirt. What a waste of money!! It’s a great shirt as long as you don’t plan on wearing it twice…
