AE Low-Rise Denim Baggy Short

I had read the reviews online and had purchased a size bigger than normal (when there is no stretch in the Jean) But they were HUGE. Even worn super low waisted and slouchy (which is what I wanted). The waist was just way too big. I returned it and actually bought an 8. Length is great!

I like these pair of shorts, I took off a star because these do not fit as a low rise. But overall these shorts are comfortable and I like em. If you collect fat in your midsection I would go up a size because there is no stretch. Apple and rectangle-size up, hourglass and inverted triangle- size down, pear true size. Thats the best I can give really, I'm a size 14, 5'6 200 pounds

My usual size 8 was pretty big, I went down a size for a more fitted look. There’s no stretch and the waist is sitting at the bottom of my bellybutton. Maybe if I got the 8 and wore a belt it would sit lower. Overall I really like these shorts #AEReviewSweepsEntry

I wanted to love these - cute style and good quality, but they are definitely not low rise...they came all the way up to my belly button. Sizing up might make them sit lower, but then they'd be really baggy overall.

I wanted to love these shorts so bad but they fit weird. I ordered my usual size 4 and they fit snug in the hips and behind but loose in the waist. I feel like an 8 would have been perfect for the look I wanted, which was to sit low on my hips like tomboy shorts, but of course they're sold out. Oh well!

I ordered these in an 8. I usually wear a 6 or 8 depending. They were huge! Returned. Tried a 4 which fit well but were too baggy in the back so didn’t end up keeping them.

Originally purchased a size 4 as I’m a 4 in everything from that store and I was swimming in them. The lady at the store said they are supposed to be loose but I like them more as a Bermuda short so I ended up exchanging for them for a double zero! Zero would have been a little better but they didn’t have any in store. Double zero is a little tight around the waist but the legs fit perfect. Definitely size at least one - two sizes down.

I love the style and the cut!! But I hate that there are only options with the rips! Not that I do not loooove rips. I have huge thighs and this cut is the only one that doesn’t show my cheeks. But now I have a huge hole in the front of my thigh that shows my roll when I sit! I would have still probably purchased for occasions when I wanted that look. But I wish there where other options for family events.

I went off reviews for sizing. . I should've went off the first one for sizing cause the other two are not helpful like I thought. I got my regular size 12 and their tight in the hips and I can't even button them. If I'd have sized up they'd have fit perfect. Their not low waisted either. But the look was what I wanted in Low waisted though. The legs fit perfect for me. Just no-where else Fit. I'll try 1 size up. Just cause I want this length in shorts and it's hard to find. Mom jean shorts are not my thing. If your buying go up a size. If you want them baggy go up 2 sizes. Really wish the sizing would stay consistent. I'm tired of wasting money & time. I thought I’d love these shorts….but they are huge! I am between a 2/4. I bought the 4….massive, exchanged for the 2, still too big! I’m torn about getting a 0! Also they are not low waist, they are quite high…but I love the color of the denim. Also if you’re short, like me, they’re not very flattering! These shorts are really cute, they're a light wash / light and airy denim material but they're MASSIVE!! I reserved a 000/xxs and they measured 13.5 inches laying flat, which is the equivalence to a size 27 inch waist/size 2 or 4 so DEFINITELY size down.

I am 5'2", 130 pounds. 28 inch waist, 40 inch hip, and these were horrible for my body type. I sized up, thinking they would be slouchy, but they were not slouchy whatsoever. These aren't "low rise" at all, so if you're wanting that vibe, I suggest sizing up 2-3 sizes. These fit my thighs and butt fantastically, but there was about 6 extra inches at my waist (i'm going to hold onto these just in case I get pregnant, because they will work well as early maternity shorts).

I ordered my usual size down in AE jeans and these were still too big. The style is ok, but the bottom of the shorts hits mid-thigh, not great if you are not super tall.

I had to return these… the material was very stiff, not soft! Very restricting, no stretch and NOT Baggy!! Definitely, not for anyone with shape or curves… just being honest.

I see why they are on clearance. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m usually an 8 or 10… sized down to 6 like recommended. Terrible fit. And these are super high rise which is not the description at all. Missed the mark with these.

Imma be honest with this review. I have a small waist and thicker thighs. Bc of this I can be between sizes. I ordered these in both the 4 and 6. The material is thick and has no stretch (thicker than the mom jeans). Both sizes ended up fitting really loose on the waist and snug on the thigh. They are also low rise. Because of the material and fit they are super unflattering on. They honestly look like guys jeans in a bad way. If you are super skinny and order a size up for a baggier look they might be passable, but the material is still ick. Bc of the thickness this is not something you’d want to wear in the summer when it’s hot. #AEReviewSweepsEntry

If you describe something as low rise, it should not go OVER your bellybutton. Really dismayed that these are high-rise.

Not sure if my shorts were defective or the pictures are just wrong - but the shorts I got were dyed terribly. The frayed edge look ridiculous on and it was a dark blue vs the pictures here show an overall acid wash look. They looked super weird on. Also all the reviews suggest sizing down but honestly, I wouldn’t. I’m usually a 4 but got a 2. The two made them tight fitting and that is NOT a good look for these shorts. They definitely need to be baggy so don’t size down unless your normal American eagle size is already slighty big. But I wouldn’t suggest buying these anyways - the colour was so weird. Also I wish American eagle would just stop putting holes in all the Jean shorts. It doesn’t make your jeans last at all. Find boyfriend shorts else where - other places stopped with the holes. American eagle please stop with the holes/rips on everything!

I normally don’t write reviews but I want to make sure no one else makes the same mistake I did! I bought these in a 4, which would mean the waist would be too large on me, but I was concerned about getting them over my hips because I have a small waist (25inches) and larger hips.
