AE High-Waisted Denim Tomgirl Midi Short

I am 130 5'4" and ordered a size 2. I was surprised as most reviews said they fit smaller. I typically order a 4 but they were sold out so took my chances on a 2 and fits perfectly. They don't have stretch though. The only reason I took a star off is because I feel like the zipper is sewed on a slant:or crooked??

These shorts are super cute, I can't wait to wear them. I wish they had a little stretch to them though. I'm 5'3 and about 135 lbs and generally wear a size 4 or 6 (I'm kind of that in between size, I wish they made size 5) so I ordered a 6 to be on the safe size. They are a little tight and offer no stretch to them. I'm sure once I wear them they will stretch a little and I'll just have to let them air dry instead of throwing them in the dryer. Other than that, they are really cute and comfy.

I absolutely loved my button-fly Tomgirl Midis from the past, but they are a little tight so I ordered a new pair. Mine are a size 6, so I ordered both sizes 8 and 10. The size 10 fits like my size 6. The 8’s were a definite no. I might keep the 10’s because they’re sold out of anything larger. Wonder why?! I guess maybe they’re somewhat closer to being true to size for normal run of the mill high-wasted shorts, but not true to the Tomgirl style or sizing of the past. They’re supposed to be slightly large, not fitted and up my butt. Which is very disappointing. If you weren’t used to the older versions, you might find them ok or fit fine. But if you’re looking for the baggy, comfortable, non-clingy shorts of the past, I’d order 2 sizes up from what you normally wear in the older button-fly Tomgirl.

I just received these today & I am VERY disappointed at how small they are!! The waistband is MUCH smaller than years past. I typically get a size 6 in Tomgirl Shorts, but with these, I may even need a size 10! I'm so disappointed because other than the sizing, I love the look & feel of them. They even say on the label, "High Rise". They are listed on the site as "Low Rise" I shared a photo with last year's Tomgirl midi on the bottom & THIS pair on top. This year's shorts are CLEARLY much smaller in the waist.

These run *at least* 2 sizes too small, how can they even advertise these as the sizes listed?!

They are not 3 1/2 inch inseam. They’re barely 2 1/2 inches, and my butt cheeks were hanging out. Not a good look. That’s not a good look for anyone btw! I am usually an 8 and ordered a 10 after reading reviews. Probably could’ve stuck to the 8. I’m 155-160lbs. Depends on the day.

I ordered a size up due to the other reviews saying these shorts run small. I’m usually a size 18 but I ordered a 20 to be safe. Unfortunately they were even smaller than I expected so I will be returning them. I couldn’t even get them past the top of my thighs. I’m not sure what has been going on with AE’s sizing the past few years but it’s way off. I’ve been the same size & had the same measurements for the past 4-5 years and I’ve barely been able to order anything from them that fits right. I’ve been shopping with AE since I was 14 and I’m 24 now and have literally bought all of my pants from them. It’s already hard enough to shop as a plus size woman and this doesn’t help. Your sizing really needs to be reevaluated. #AEReviewSweepsEntry

The leg openings are way too wide and make the back flare out and it is very unflattering. I was surprised because I have muscular legs and leg openings on shorts are usually on the small side.

I got the Tomgirl shorts last year and loved the fit so much. I couldn’t wait till they came back this year. Well they are much smaller in the waist, I don’t even think going up one size would work as they would be to big elsewhere. Please bring back the same sizing as last year. I bought these shorts in all the colors, however the dark pair are so much smaller then the rest. Like 2 sizes smaller! And they advertise mid rise but they are definitely not...they are much higher. I am returning all 4 pairs. I feel that AE jeans and shorts are missing the mark lately....which is very sad!
