Super cute but runs small

I typically wear a size medium in AE & Aerie tops. I ordered a medium in this top hoping it would be somewhat fitted and slightly cropped; however, the shouler/armpit area was very tight making the shirt pull weird cross my chest (average chest size). sadly I will be returning.

This t-shirt is so tiny. I'm keeping it because I need to wear it to the game in a couple days. I sized up to a medium - normally a small, though I do wear medium in fitted shirts. It fits how it's shown on the model, but I kinda feel like I'm wearing a shirt for a kid. It's just okay, but maybe I feel that way because I'm 33 years old.
