Size chart is way off but cute pants

I found these to run extremely large. I ordered a size 2 based off of the size chart. My waist is 26” which is between a 2 and 4 according to the chart. When I got them and put them on, there was easily about 3-4 inches of loose material. It looked like I was wearing my dad’s pants as a joke. The length is also something that, for whatever reason, not many companies provide. I know these are labeled “ankle” but that could mean completely different things. I didn’t measure them before I returned them but I bet these are about 28-29” inseam.
I exchanged them for a size 0 so fingers crossed that those work because the pants themselves look very nice. However based on how large the size 2 was, I’m not super confident.

I wish I hadnt gotten these on final sale because they are way too big and puff up in weird places. I ordered a size 4 (I can range from size 2-6 in pants and went for a cool middle ground after seeing theres no stretch in them) and I am swimming in them…. the fabric is nice and the length is good (I’m short so theyre long on me but I’m not stepping on them). Otherwise, not a good fit, will likely have to sell them off.
