I Support the Girls is hitting the road with a new Signature Grant from the Aerie Real Foundation™!
We’re so excited to announce that, thanks to the generosity of the Aerie fam, we are expanding our support of I Support the Girls (ISTG) with a $50,000 Signature Grant. In addition to accepting donations for gently used bras in all Aerie stores, ISTG used the Signature Grant to purchase a vehicle (dubbed the “Bra FAERIE”) that will go out into the community and distribute bras, undies and period products to people who need it most.
These new wheels will take their work even further, with the goal of distributing 200,000 products, impacting 75,000 people this year. The van will have 80,000 Aerie bras on board, ready to go out into the community — and over 19,200 of them are stocked thanks to our Aerie fam’s in-store bra donations!
This past August, from 8.22 to 8.25, we held a weekend-long Bra Trade-In Event that allowed us to donate even more bras to ISTG! Customers stopped by their store to donate a gently used bra in exchange for a $20 Aerie or OFFLINE by Aerie® bra, bralette or sports bra, resulting in over 17k bras donated. Thank you for your support, Aerie fam. We couldn’t do it without you.
About I Support the Girls
We are so glad to have met Dana, who started ISTG in 2015 to build a network of love and care and make dignity the norm. Through an international network of Affiliates, I Support the Girls (ISTG) collects and distributes essential items, including bras, underwear, and menstrual hygiene products, allowing women and folx experiencing homelessness, impoverishment, or distress with the mission of giving people in need a more healthy and dignified lifestyle.
Dana got inspired to start I Support the Girls when she changed bra sizes and had to go buy new bras. At the store, she asked if she they could help her donate her used bras, and the salesperson told her, “Homeless women need bras.” From there, Dana began her journey to helping to make REAL change. For the Bra Trade in Event on 2.1 – 2.4, you will be able to get any bra or bralette for $20 in the US (or $30 in CDA) if you trade in a gently used bra (any brand, any style)!
Does the sale specifically include sports bras? To purchase, not the trade-in.
What are the exclusions?
If we bring in a few, we receive $5 for each bra we donate? Do we have to purchase a bra with it, or can it be applied to other products? Also do we have to use the credit on that day? Or can we take the credit to use at a different time?
Is there a limit to how many bras you can trade in to get the deal?
