The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) is a non-profit that supports individuals & families affected by eating disorders & serves as a catalyst for prevention, cures & access to quality care. This year is our 7th partnering with the life-saving non-profit in the hopes of continuing to spread awareness and help the organization fulfill its mission.

To date, we’ve donated nearly $1.5 million through our NEDA partnership and in big part with your help!

See what we’re up to this year and learn more about some of the key initiatives below.

Aerie Limited-Edition REAL T-Shirt

We’ve partnered with NEDA on a limited-edition, online-only T-shirt, in which 100% of the purchase price will benefit the charitable organization. The classic fit crewneck tee features a bold graphic as a poignant reminder of both Aerie and NEDA values: “I am REAL.” This style is coming soon so be sure to follow us for updates to get your hands on one in order to support a good cause!

NEDA Screening Tool

NEDA’s Screening Tool can help determine if it’s time to seek professional help for eating disorder concerns. This tool is appropriate for individuals ages 13 and over and will tell you whether or not you are at risk of an eating disorder. This screening tool is not diagnostic but evaluates thoughts & behaviors that may be associated with eating disorders. Local resources are generated for each user.

#NEDAwareness Week Panels

Join in on the action during #NEDAwareness Week from Feb. 22-28, 2021, where several panel conversations will take place around the theme of “Every Body Has a Seat at the Table.” The event will seek to shed light on eating disorders by educating the public, spreading messages of hope, and providing lifesaving resources to those who need them.

The line-up of panel conversations includes:

Monday, 2.22: Black Mental Health Matters — Eating Disorders and the Black Community

Tuesday, 2.23: Proud To Be Me — Insights from the LGBTQ+ Community

Wednesday, 2.24: We Are Here, Now Hear Us — Voices from the Higher Weight Community

Thursday, 2.25: Caregivers — Supporting Ourselves While Supporting Others

Friday, 2.26: Wrap-up Panel Event — Every Body Has a Seat at the Table (moderated by former #AerieREAL Role Model Iskra!)

Black Lives Matter Resources

In light of the growing conversations and action around racial injustice, NEDA has created a resource page to provide information related to the Black Lives Matter movement and several other related causes. The page specifically includes links to topics such as mental health, self-care and mindfulness, non-POC allyship and more, and is available now at the organization’s website.

Get Involved & Donate!

Kicking off with #NEDAwareness Week (Feb. 22-28), Aerie will donate $1 per IG post with #AerieREAL — up to $100K for 2021! Additionally, Aerie will make a $25K donation to NEDA as part of our #AerieREAL TikTok challenge. Show us your best moves, Aerie Fam!

Thank you so much for partnering with NEDA. Eating disorders are an issue that can sit in the shadows and be affecting people you aren't even aware. As someone who has lived with one for a very long time and has had a friend with these issues, I appreciate Aerie partnering with NEDA and promoting these issues. A positive body image is so important. When I was going through my issues, it was something that was not as open nor as easily talked about in society. I'm so glad it is now. Aerie has a platform for women and girls that are of ages that can be easily affected by these disorders, so it's wonderful to see Aerie using it's platform. I appreciate a business that does this. I have written a little about my journey and struggle, knowing that putting the subject our there and letting people know they are no alone can help. By your continued partnership with NEDA that also is doing just that. Thank you again! And thank you for promoting all body types and images.
